Can we purchase Ryde

With the sad demise of Southsea, which surely borders on desecration - the detruction of an unreplaceable piece of history, how can we stop this happening to Ryde. It seems to me that the main priority, even before we know how we can restore her, is to gain ownership. At least then we can prevent some phillistine selling a national treasure for a few pieces of silver. Is the purchase a possibility? If it was, I'm sure that there are enough people who care sufficiently to make a contribution. Can we act before it is too late?
