Re the Southsea and other vessels, being many.
It seems to me that after reading the Ships for the Nation report that the government of the day supports the historic ship platform, (but do not ask them for funding). The Heritage Lottery fund is only interested in existing projects, (successful or not in the future).
This means that most projects, immaterial of their historic merit are destined for the scrapyard, which could well including the Medway Queen, and Ryde to boot.
The Mary Rose is of course an exception, I wonder why? The Britannia also, I wonder why.
All these are on the Core List and will one way or the other receive funding as and when needed.
But some of the most historic vessels will be left to rot. I wonder why?
I do apologise to all those volunteers, which are and have work hard over the years, which are involved in the preservation of our Maritime Heritage. You will of course receive all the usual piffle about your hard work and fortitude, but little help, if any, will be forth coming, unless the option is acceptable to the privileged few to decide. Your views will be considered, but if not inline with the procedure, will be destine for the bin, as ever.
