as a boy i used to finish school, then go to the round tower to watch the ferries, and if i had chance i would go to the camber in the morning to watch the coal barge being towed out by butchers boats for the ryde.i was on her the day that alec rose finished his round the world trip, and remember the trouble the captain had trying to manouvre with so many boats around, as i remember we did not get close.i also didd one trip just before she finished, and i managed to get on the bridge.
i now live in the north of scotland, but watch your site, and the m.v.southsea site with interest, and i do visit maid of the loch if we are near lomond, it is sad that all these fine vessels are gone or going, what a sight it would be to see ryde and southsea together again at the pierhead
